Not Your Ordinary Kitchen Addition
To the average person, a kitchen renovation impacts moments of their day to day life. For a chef, a kitchen renovation can impact your craft. This is why we wanted to nail the kitchen addition for these homeowners, one of whom is a gourmet chef. Before the renovation, every room in their house flowed together, except for their kitchen. In order to make it flow and function with the rest of the house we needed to make the space that was originally their back porch into the kitchen addition.
Overcoming Obstacles in the Build
The beginning stages of this renovation required a lengthy engineering process, where we had to navigate removing an exterior wall to create an opening between the existing kitchen and the addition. We needed to make the room wide enough to accommodate the client’s 16 foot kitchen island, which we built with beautiful veined quartzite countertops. We also needed to customize a few areas of the kitchen to make it chef-approved. We added a giant range and vent hood over the stovetop, a warming drawer, and a custom spice rack to hold hundreds of our client’s spices.
Seamless Flow & Function
We also built custom shelving for a mudroom space, gave the existing kitchen area a facelift, and added a screened porch to the back of the house. We were so happy to create a new and inviting kitchen for these two lovely homeowners and their family. Their kitchen will now be a seamless and beautiful place of gathering, bonding, and gourmet cooking that flows perfectly with the rest of their home.
