We’re remodeling contractors committed to adding value to every part of your home. Matt and Kate Schmuff launched Mint Construction in 2015. Above all, they wanted to provide quality craftsmanship and personal service to the Shenandoah Valley. Although Matt had a well-rounded experience with each phase of remodeling and new construction, the company primarily provided carpentry services for the first few months. As Mint’s reputation and portfolio grew, the company moved towards turn-key projects as a general practice. Today Mint offers full-service remodeling and custom home building to Rockingham County and Harrisonburg City.

Kate Schmuff

Design & Creative Planning

Kate Schmuff is Mint Construction’s point-person for design and creative planning. She has been interested in design and decorating work since she was a child. Now, she uses her passion for style and functionality to inspire clients and plan unique projects. In addition to full-time work with Mint, her hobbies include going to the gym, gardening, and spending time with her kids.
Matt Schmuff

Owner

Matt Schmuff is the owner of Mint Construction. He is a second-generation contractor and carpenter who has enjoyed construction from a young age. Matt was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. However, in 2013, he and his wife, Kate, moved to Harrisonburg with their three young children. Shortly after moving to the city, they welcomed their fourth child and bought a home in Harrisonburg. Since then, he has been proud to call the Friendly City "home." Matt takes pride in being a part of the local community. As a result, he continues to build Mint Construction as a trusted company that will serve the remodeling needs of the valley for decades to come. Outside of work, his hobbies include spending time with his family, hanging out downtown, enjoying new music, and bodybuilding.
