Have you ever toured a house and immediately felt like you were at home? That is what happened when our clients walked into their home on Hillcrest. However, at the time their dream home wasn’t big enough for their family, which led them to our team at Mint. After several months of renovating, we completed their stunning home renovation and addition project that transformed their 1950s Cape Cod house from a 2 bedroom to a 5 bedroom home. The renovation included two additions, one on the main floor and another on the second floor, which left them with more than enough space to live comfortably and host friends and family in their new home.
Adding New Spaces, Seamlessly
One of the main challenges we face when building any addition, especially to an older home, is making the addition feel like a seamless part of the main house. To achieve this, we added large beams to support the upstairs and created an open floor plan that allows people to move freely from one area to another. We were able to match the paint color and aesthetic which allows the old space to flow naturally into the addition. The addition on the main floor includes a guest bedroom, wide open living room, dining room, and kitchen with a walk-in pantry and a walk-in bathroom. The second floor addition created two additional bedrooms, added built-ins and desks for the children, and a Jack and Jill style bathroom.
One Addition Down, One to Go
We turned their previous garage into a mudroom and built a new garage off the front of the house. This created ample space for a primary suite above their new garage, giving the homeowners privacy and more than enough space for their large primary bedroom, spacious bathroom, and walk-in closet.

Our collaboration with the homeowners and their architect turned a challenging project into a beautiful home that now comfortably fits our clients’ family of six.
