Passionate Remodeling Contractors For Your Project.
We’re remodeling contractors committed to adding value to every part of your home. Mint Construction was launched in 2015 by Matt and Kate Schmuff to provide quality craftsmanship and personal service to the Shenandoah Valley. Although Matt had a well-rounded experience with each phase of remodeling and new construction, the company primarily provided carpentry services for the first few months. As Mint’s reputation and portfolio grew, the company moved towards turn-key projects as a general practice. Today Mint offers full-service remodeling and custom home building to Rockingham County and Harrisonburg City.
Matt Schmuff is the owner and lead project manager of Mint Construction. He is a second generation contractor and carpenter that has enjoyed construction from a young age. Matt was born and raised in Baltimore, MD but moved to Harrisonburg in 2013 with his wife, Kate, and three young kids. Soon after moving to the city, they had their fourth child and bought a home. The Friendly City proved to be an ideal place to settle and raise a family and build a company. Matt takes pride in being a part of Harrisonburg and continues building Mint Construction as a trusted company that he can pass to his kids in the future. His hobbies are spending time with his family, finish carpentry, and weight training.
Kate Schmuff is Mint Construction’s point-person for design and creative planning. Kate has been interested in design and decorating work since she was a child. She uses her passion for style and functionality to inspire clients and plan unique projects. In addition to full-time work with Mint, she homeschools her four young kids and keeps an active social and athletic life. Her hobbies include fashion, reading, caring for plants and spending time in the sun.
Dale Goodwin was born in Arkansas, raised in the Tidewater area of Virginia, went to college in Florida, and has served in various ministries in Florida, Maryland, and Virginia. He performs a range of administrative work and project oversight to keep Mint running smooth. Besides his work with Mint, he currently is involved in a local ministry in the Harrisonburg area where he and his wife have lived for the past thirteen years. He enjoys reading (particularly history) and classic movies. Dale and his wife, Diana, have been married for 38 years. They have two married daughters and four grandchildren, all of whom live in the Harrisonburg area.
